Strategic Plan 2003-2004
Statement of Purpose:
It shall be the purpose of the Redwood Falls Hockey Association to provide
the youth of Redwood Falls and the surrounding area with the opportunity to participate in
organized and supervised hockey and tho encourage each participant to pursue their own
individual level of skill and ability. The Association will operate by the policy
that for all participants who come to practice, they will play in games.

Strategic Planning Statement:
In an effort to achieve the Statement of Purpose, the Board of Directors is committed to an annual process of strategic planning to identify goals and objectives which shall be implemented through duly-adopted policies and procedures, the use of committees, and any other sucy methods deemed necessary and appropriate by the Board of Directors. The Board of Directors shall adopt and may modify, priorize, or substitute goals and objectives from time to time as determined necessary.
2003 - 2004 Strategic Planning Goals
I. Growth of the Association
and it's Programs:
The Association should strive to increase it's registered participants at levels
but focus on the Mite, Mini-Mite and Squirt levels of play since this is where the best
potential for new registrants exists. Such growth will sustain itself in subsequesnt
years as players advance provided the program remains rewarding for them. Such
growth will also provide strength for all aspects of the Association's operation.
The short-range goals shall be to have 60 Mites and Mini-Mites for 2003-2004.
The long-range goal should be to have tow teams (A-B) at each level of play.
II.. Financial Planning and Management:
The Association should implement initiatives that provide for it's overall
financial health and stability. Suche initiatives should be: (a) The monthly
maintenance of the annual operating budget; (b) Registration fees that are reasonable to
encourage participation but also help meet the needs of the Association; (c) The
development of viable and annual fundraising initiatives that are maintained if successful
and modified or dropped if not successful and new fundraising programs to replace old ones
as needed; (d) The establishment of an operating reserve fund.
III. High School Hockey:
The Association shall develop a report that addresses, describes, and explains the many
issues pertaining to the questions of high school hockey. This report shall be used
to inform members prior to placing the issue before the general membership for a vote.
IV. Utilize effective communitactions to market
and publicize the Association:
The Association shall develop and maintain effective internal communications with
it's members to inform them about the many facets of the Association, educate them about
the operations of the Association, and promote their volunteer obligations for the
betterment of the Association. This shall be done via periodic newsletters, the
website, team meetings, and any other means the Board deems necessary. The
Association shall also promote itself using marketing publicity methods for external
communitcations in an effort to establish itself as the premier youth athletic association
in the area. Positive publicity with external audiences will improve our ability to
attract more registrations, be more successful at fundraising, and improve the quality of
our programs. Such external audiences are the media (newspaper coverage and game
results), the business community, school and city governments, and the general
community-at-large.
V. Effective Player Development:
The Association shall actively promote and stress fundamental skill development and
emphasize a specific mastery of skills at each respective level of play. The
Association shall equip and train coaches and officials in the rules of the game, and
coaching and mentoring skills in an effort to promote an overall positive youth hockey
experience.
VI. Prmote good sportsmanship and healthy
attitudes on all aspects:
The Association shall strive to promote good sportsmanship, a postivie philiospoh,
respect, and health attitudes for all aspects of the game and the operations and programs
of the Association. This shall apply to all players, parents, coaches, referees, and
spectators. Efforts are to be continually implemented that reinforce good
sportsmanship to become an insituted attitude. Such efforts will insist on nothing
less that the hightest caliber of play and mutual respect for all. This respect will
apply whether the teams are hosts for home games or guests at away games. The
conduct of teams, coaches and parents are a reflection of the community. In addition
to respect for each other, respect will be extended to equipment, facilities, buildings
and grounds. The Code of Conduct and tenets of the Zero Tolerance Policy will be
enforced. "Win with integrity, lose with dignity, do both with class."
