HIGH SCHOOL INTERSCHOLASTIC HOCKEY AGREEMENT

 

This agreement is entered into between the Redwood Area Hockey Association (RAHA) and Independent School District No. 2897 of Redwood Falls, Minnesota (School).

WHEREAS, The School and Association recognize that they can expand the quality of the ice hockey program and expand opportunities in ice hockey for the participants in ice hockey by sanctioning ice hockey as a interscholastic sport at the School under the guidelines of the Minnesota State High School League; and,

WHEREAS, The School has determined that ice hockey is supported by sufficient interest and ability to sustain a boy’s team and a girl’s team; that ice hockey could soon be a conference sport for Redwood Valley High School; that ice hockey is sponsored by the Minnesota State High School League; that facilities are available; that qualified coaches are available and that financial resources are available from the RAHA; and,

WHEREAS, The School and the Association desire to establish interscholastic ice hockey at the School under a "zero cost" to the School

WHEREAS, It is the desire of the School Board of District No. 2897 of Redwood Falls, Minnesota, to adopt ice hockey as an interscholastic program at District No. 2897 on a varsity level commencing in the school year 2005-2006; and,

WHEREAS, RAHA has agreed to pay all costs associated with the establishment of interscholastic ice hockey on a varsity level at District No. 2897

NOW, THEREFORE, In consideration of the terms and condition herein, it is agreed by and between the parties as follows:

Interscholastic Ice Hockey. The School does here by establish boy’s ice hockey as an interscholastic sport at Redwood Valley High School for the school year of 2005-2006 and girl’s ice hockey as an interscholastic sport at Redwood Valley High School for the school year of 2005-2006 upon the terms and conditions of this agreement. The initial establishment and the continuation of either boy’s or girl’s hockey is dependent upon sufficient numbers of players for either, to support a varsity team according to Minnesota State High School League Rules.

Financial Support. The RAHA shall provide all financial support for ice hockey at a "zero cost," except where noted, to the School. The RAHA shall pay all costs for boy’s and girl’s ice hockey associated with interscholastic ice hockey on a varsity level, including, but not limited to, the following.

Coaching: All related expenses to the hiring of a coach and an assistant coach including coaches salaries, fringe benefits and other costs associated or allocated to coaching of interscholastic ice hockey.

Transportation: All transportation expenses for the team and coaches for all scrimmages and games.

Referees: All expenses of referees as are usual and customary for Minnesota State High School League hockey programs.

Registration: All registration costs for membership in interscholastic ice hockey on a varsity level and all tournament fees as authorized by the Minnesota State High School League.

Ice Time: All ice arena costs associated with all practices and games shall be paid for by the RAHA. RAHA shall provide preferential scheduling for practices and games.

Equipment: Each player will be required to have all equipment as required by the Minnesota State High School League rules. RAHA will provide two sets of goalie equipment and jerseys (home and away, including lettering) at their expense. All other individual equipment is provided by individual players in conformity with Minnesota State High School League Rules for approved equipment.

Miscellaneous: All costs for miscellaneous supplies including pucks, training supplies, visual aids, medical supplies, tape, water bottles and coaching supplies. The school will provide appropriate medical staff at all home games.

Coaching. The school shall use its best effort to hire a certified hockey coaches. The School shall be responsible for, supervising, and determining compensation for all coaches for this program. The RAHA shall have an opportunity to have a member of RAHA as an ex-official member of the search committee.

Default. If the RAHA shall default in any of the terms or conditions of this agreement, including non-payment of any agreed cost in a timely manner, the School may immediately terminate the interscholastic ice hockey program or take such other action, as it deems appropriate including terminating this agreement.

Annual Review: There shall be an annual report and review at the completion of each season with members of the RAHA and the School administration. Either party may withdraw from this agreement upon the giving of one years notice to the other party in writing unless the parties agree to another procedure or time of withdrawal.

Facility Administration: All administrative support, including, but not limited to, janitorial services, security, minor officials, at the ice facility for home games shall be provided for by RAHA. The School will be responsible for providing medical personnel for all players, officials and attendees.

Payment to School. The RAHA shall pay all bills within 30 days of receipt or upon such payment schedule as is determined by the School and the RAHA. The School and the RAHA shall have equal and adequate access to the others accounting system to maintain and verify payments.

Receivables: The RAHA shall retain 100% of concessions received at ice hockey events at the ice arena. Ticket prices shall conform to those prices normally charged by the School and the RAHA shall be responsible for collection of all income. The School shall apply all gate receipts to the cost of the program. The School will waive its participation fee for the hockey program. The RAHA will continue to set and collect a registration fee for participation in the RAHA. The activity ticket normally by held by students of the School or others shall not be valid for admission to the ice arena. The RAHA will be allowed to create and implement it’s own season pass. RAHA shall be the only official booster club for the high school hockey.

Academic Eligibility: Boys and girls participation in the RAHA hockey programs for students enrolled in grades 7-12 shall comply with the School’s and the Minnesota State High School League academic eligibility policies.

Insurance: The school will provide Liability insurance. Health insurance to prevent catastrophic loss will be provided through the Minnesota State High School League. Student accident insurance can be obtained through the School. Cost of such insurance will be the responsibility of the players parent(s) or guardian(s).

Policies, Rules and Regulations. During those time periods when the School is using the hockey arena for varsity practice sessions, varsity scrimmages, and varsity games, the policies, rules and regulations of the School, RAHA and the Minnesota State High School League shall apply in the areas of student, spectator, and employee conduct, behavior, controlled substances, alcohol, and tobacco, and such other areas that may be addressed in the School policy or practice. These policies, rules and regulations will not supercede the City of Redwood Falls’ policies, rules and regulations for operation and management of the areana.

Scheduling. The school will be responsible for scheduling games and an adequate number of referee’s for each home game.

Team Name. The boys and girls hockey teams will adopt and be known by, the official school name and mascot.
